Jarkko Nordlund Appointed New MTV CEO
Today MTV announced the appointment of Jarkko Nordlund as new CEO. Since late spring, MTV – Finland’s No. 1 broadcaster – has been looking for a new CEO. The search has focused on strengthening the company’s position in the digital media market and to turn MTV profitable again. Casten Almqvist, head of Bonnier Broadcasting and Chairman of MTV, has a clear vision of what Jarkko Nordlund will bring to MTV.
“With his experience from the Nordic music and pay TV markets, Jarkko Nordlund knows digital transformation,” says Almqvist. “Jarkko’s management experiences in reforming business operations will bring a drive to MTV’s company culture that will ensure the necessary turnaround in close collaboration with both colleagues, consumers, users and advertisers.”
The advertising market and media in general are facing substantial challenges, forcing all companies in the field to revise their business models. In addition to having left his mark on the music business, Nordlund also has ten years’ experience in establishing and running pay TV operations in Finland as the managing director of Viasat Finland and Canal Plus.
“MTV has an impressive track record in creating great experiences to us Finns, and I’m really excited about being given the opportunity to make sure that the company will keep on producing hit shows and experiences that appeal to large groups of viewers. MTV’s strong connection to Finnish consumers also benefits our advertisers,” says MTV Oy’s new CEO Nordlund. His job will be to ensure that MTV remains the country’s best entertainer and the most appealing solution for advertisers, while turning the company’s operations profitable.
Nordlund starts his new job as CEO on January 1, 2016.
Acting CEO Jani Koskinen has been appointed Executive Vice President Finance and Strategy starting January 1, 2016. He will continue as acting CEO until December 31, 2015.
