2017 Winners of the Swedish Grand Prize for Journalism

Prizewinners for 2017 are Magda Gadd, Expressen; Emma Frans; Dan Josefsson, Anna Nordbeck, Johannes Hallbom, Jakob Larsson, SVT; Åsa Erlandsson; and Tom Alandh.

Winners of the Swedish Grand Prize for Journalism 2017 were announced at an awards ceremony earlier this evening in front of an audience of Sweden’s leading journalists and media personalities. For the first time in the awards’ over 50-year history, the ceremony and dinner was held at Bonniers Konsthall art museum; it  and was broadcast live on Sweden’s biggest media sites.

The ceremony was opened by Jonas Bonnier, jury chairman. The program host for the evening was Johar Bendjelloul, journalist and popular voice from Swedish Radio, who in December leaves radio to work for Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter.

The guest speaker for the gala was Patrik Hermansson, journalist and researcher who spent 13 months undercover with the Alt-Right, working for the U.K.-based HOPE Not Hate. During the ceremony, he was interviewed onstage by Bendjelloul and spoke for the first time on a Swedish stage about his work.
