Bjarne Corydon New Editor-in-Chief and CEO for Børsen

Bjarne Corydon New Editor-in-Chief and CEO for Børsen

The board for Børsen has named Bjarne Corydon as Editor-in-Chief and CEO for the Danish business daily. Corydon will take office on January 1.

Corydon has most recently served as Director for the McKinsey Centre for Government at McKinsey & Company, a position he has held since 2015. Prior to that, he served for four years as Finance Minister for Denmark under the then-Social Democratic administration, where he was the youngest Finance Minister in Danish history and played an important role in the reforms that followed the global financial crisis.

“After a thorough process, I’m excited to be able to present Bjarne Corydon as new CEO and Editor-in-Chief for Børsen,” says Karmo Kaas-Lutsberg, chairman of the board for Børsen and head of Bonnier’s international business-to-business operations. “His unique experience and perspective at the juncture where finance, entrepreneurship and politics meet will strengthen Børsen. In addition, he is an inspiring leader with a genuine passion for Børsen’s mission and for Danish business, and a deep understanding of how forces such as digitization and automation reshape societies and businesses. I’m convinced that Bjarne has everything it takes – together with the staff of Denmark’s leading financial news outlet – to bring Børsen product and relevance in the business community even further.

“Even in a time of profound change in the media industry, which demands cost-efficiency, the mission for Børsen’s executive leadership is to build and to pursue growth, particularly in digital. Through investing in quality and by being indispensable for its audience, Børsen can build a successful business with growing digital subscriber revenues. Which also reflects the broader views of Bonnier’s owners on how we believe high-quality media should position itself,” says Tomas Franzén, CEO of Bonnier AB.

The incoming CEO and Editor-in-Chief of Børsen has terminated his party membership to secure full independence.

“For me, Dagbladet Børsen has always had a special role in the Danish media landscape. A must-read publication for anyone interested in issues of importance for business and the wider economy,” says Bjarne Corydon. “Therefore, I regard it as a unique privilege to have the opportunity to lead the further development of Børsen. I will approach the task with high ambitions. Børsen’s journalism must be an indispensable tool for current and new readers in business life. I am new to the media industry and look forward to working with and learning from the supremely skilled colleagues at Børsen.

“My goal is for Børsen to provide relevant and up-to-date journalism that reflects and interprets the major changes our society goes through, but also explores the depths of the challenges any decision-maker faces. I think this requires constant renewal. And not least a perspective that crosses sectors and borders. My four years as Finance Minister leading a very broad reform agenda – and then two years as the head of the McKinsey Centre for Government with exposures in more than 20 countries, has given me cross-cutting insights that I am looking forward to putting to use for Børsen and its audience.”
