Global Prize
During the annual global congress of the INMA, two of Bonnier’s daily newspapers took home first prizes in the organization’s annual awards.
Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter took first place in the category “Print and Digital Subscription Sales.” The paper won for its launch of the new DN, with the judges calling DN “a great project with brilliant excecution that led to great results.”
“This is absolutely one of the most important prizes,” said Johan Othelius, subscription manager at DN. “We came in first, with the highly reputed the Telegraph coming second and the Sydney Morning Herald in third.”
Expressen took first place in the category “Brand Awareness Across Platforms” as well as second place as “Best in Show” for best daily newspaper regardless of circulation. The New York Times won first prize, for its new pay site.
Expressen won for its attention-getting bus used during campaigns for Unicef and for big sports and entertainment events – the bus has become a real tool for interacting with readers and allows for broadcasting web TV, mobile content and print as well, the jury said.
“This idea, I mean the bus, began on a whiteboard and continued on the computer of layout manager Göran Forsberg,” said Thomas Mattsson, Expressen’s editor-in-chief. “Christina Lundell, who has worked a lot with the bus, gets an extra thanks.”
